"I have been at my previous vet for years out of loyalty. I discovered BRVC when my cat had an emergency. As we all know emergencies are unscheduled. BR took my cat in treated her and me as if we were royalty but the best part the emergency bill was less than a regular appointment with my previous vet. It is because of that visit I chose to switch and bring my beloved Yorkie Ms. Charlie. I can't express how happy I am and believe it is the right decision. I am looking forward to a long relationship with my new pet care provider. Dr Ikezawa. Thank you"Kristina P.
"This is to thank Dr. Gilman and Dr. Dodd for being the miracle workers that they are. Tinsel isn't itching, hair has all grown back and (is)...surrounding himself with toys. We can't thank you enough!"
Thank you all so much for taking such great care of Pooka. I know he was in your care a long time and you all kept him healthy and happy while happily speaking to me nearly every single day about his progress, feelings, and overall mood.
I will happily recommend your services to all of my friends and family that have pets. I do believe that you aren't just a business, but truly care about other peoples pets. This is unusual in businesses, but I believe is the best way to expand and retain customers.
Thank you especially, for all of the work you did to accommodate Pooka's reservation, his age and special diet, and making sure he got nearly as much love, attention, and patience as he does at home. Your commitment to providing a high level of care, far beyond what is required, is much appreciated by our family, as I am sure, every other family that has turned to Bishop Ranch.
"Started first going to BRVC&UC for our Blue Dobe who had spinal issues, and CAH. The old vet was sort of cold, wanted her to come in too often IMO. BRVC has loving Vets, who show they truly care about the animals they care for. They have a variety of vets, who specialize in different areas. We opted for acupuncture, and herbs. Sadly, we made the final trip with Shadow, and she was released from her pain. I then changed our other Dobe to BRVC&UC. So glad too! We live in Benicia, and used to drive to Vallejo, just the next town over. Now, it is to San Ramon with drs. who show they love their jobs and the animals they take care of"Debbie M. Benicia, CA
"I LOVE Bishop Ranch1 I've been taking my pets there for over 20 years and I wouldn't go any place else. The whole staff is considerate, helpful and caring. I get follow up phone calls from the vet when needed. They are the BEST!"Jeanie L. San Ramon, CA
"Bolo loves Bishop Ranch Vet Clinic so much that he loves to visit each week. Sometimes we think he fakes being sick so he can see Dr. Weaver and Dr. Pogrel."Jill C. Livermore, CA
"Thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping Honey get through her eye trauma. I have never had as much confidence in a veterinary clinic as I do with BRVC. Honey and Ayden think you guys are the best too !!!!"Stacey M. San Ramon, CA
"BRVC is a group of animal lovers who also happen to be top-of-the-line veterinary professionals. We are fairly new patients, but we've been through quite a bit over the past year at both ends of the cycle of life:
For many years after moving to Danville we didn't need much in the way of vet services, but at the beginning of this year our 16 year old F4 Bengal Cat "Spot," who had been quite vigorous, became lethargic and started losing weight. We brought him to BRVC and met Dr. Gilman, who unfortunately had to deliver the news that Spot had lymphoma. He did this both with compassion and realism, which was all the more difficult a balancing act given that we came to the office as a family with our 10- and 12-year-old kids who had grown up with Spot. Dr. Gilman talked about his own experience with his dog who had passed away under similar conditions. He tried what could be tried, but was ultimately very emphatic that what was best for Spot was to make him comfortable: any aggressive treatment would mean a lot more hospital visits, and he was observant of the fact that Spot's wild heritage made him very traumatized by blood draws and other hospital procedures. Because of this advice Spot got to live out his last couple of months playing outdoors, which he had never been allowed to do, and he was obviously pleased about that. When the day came that Spot started having respiratory distress, BRVC was able to refer us to an on-call veterinary specialist who came to our house so that Spot could go in peace surrounded by the people he loved.
Throughout that experience everyone at BRVC was great – that includes the vet techs who had to deal with an extremely intransigent and sharp-clawed patient.
Fast forward several months; after a suitable period we started looking around, and ultimately brought home two new Bengal cats to our family: Chompy, age 10 weeks at the time we got him, and Empress Fang, a 4-year old retired queen. They've been to BRVC a few times now for their initial welcome-home checkup, vaccines, and yesterday for a his-and-hers neuter and spay. They were done at the same time at the recommendation of Dr. Gilman, who felt it would be better if they went through recovery together.
Dr. Gilman's enthusiasm and compassion are typical of the people at BRVC: the reception staff, the techs, and everyone we've met there exude a genuine interest in our pets, the other client's pets, and their own pets. The reception space is large and inviting and clearly is laid out to make animals feel at ease. I am confident that this is the best care my pets can get, and I recommend BRVC to everyone.
PS – Dr. Gilman called for a follow-up on yesterday's surgeries, and at the end of the call said 'Oh, by the way we got the most adorable picture of your cats in the recovery area – I'll send it to you.' That really says it all."
"I brought my Dixie dog in today to see Dr. Pogrel for a re-check on a broken leg. I just want to tell Dr. P and the entire BRVC staff...Thank you! You are all so wonderful and caring with our four-legged family members. I would not trust anyone else with the care of my pet! You guys rock....AND...Dixie is now sporting a VERY CUTE leopard cast for two more weeks! I ♥ BRVC! "Cheri R. Danville, CA
"Daisy would like to thank the wonderful vets and staff at Bishop Ranch for saving her leg when it was broken. Daisy was feral and only just beginning to trust humans when she broke her leg. I am very grateful for the care she received and am happy it did not set her back in her progress toward trusting humans!"Kellie P. Livermore, CA
"Thank you for always taking such great care of Lola & Gigi! Hopefully we won't be back too soon :) But seriously this is the best Vet center we have ever been too!!"Katie C. Dublin, CA
"I had taken my Belgian Sheepdog, Raven to several other vets before I started going to BRVC. My first visit with Dr. Pogrel and I was more than impressed (not easy to do.) He is the "Sherlock Holmes" of veterinary care. Dr. P detected that Raven's leg had been broken or crushed when she was just a puppy and had never received medical care for the injury. No other vet had appreciated that fact! That was impressive!"Suchitra D. Castro Valley, CA
"We've been going to BRVC for over 7 years. You've helped us through many incidents, from stomach issues to weird growths to acupuncture. Dr Gilman and the entire staff were so supportive when our German Shepherd was dying. From the phone calls to the tech that came to the house to help me figure out how to move Libby around, even the two techs who moved Libby from our car to the hospital after she had died with the utmost respect and care, I will never forget all the help you offered. We are loyal and forever bonded to BRVC because we know that from beginning to end, our three other dogs are in the most capable, caring hands possible."Patricia R. San Ramon, CA
" Dr Pogrel and Dr DeLano are the best animal Drs ever! They have saved our animals more than I can count. . . The compassion and caring from them and every other employee makes our 45 minute drive from Vallejo worth it 100%."Catrinka H. Vallejo, CA
"Nothing better than having consistency of care! I have seen Dr. Delano, Dr. Utchen, Dr. Cain and Dr. Williams and the staff for 18 years! In human medicine we are looking for consistent and personalized care. At BRVC there is personalized care for your pets. The staff always greets you in a friendly and helpful manner and you know the client counts! My pets are important to us and part of our family so we appreciate having such a high level of care in the Tri Valley Area."Jo Anne M. Pleasanton, CA
"My family has been going to BRVC since they opened. We had been seeing the vets at Crow Canyon (dogs) & Norris Canyon (cats) when they merged. How many years ago was that? You've come a long way since then! You have a great facility and a great staff. I have too many stories to post here. What I can say is I love all of the vets and staff that cared for all of our pets all these years. We are a family of animal lovers who treat our pets like our children. I couldn't ask for more capable and supportive staff. I'm proud to see you out at community events and have recommended you to my friends. Keep up the good work!"Valerie Q. Danville, Ca
"BRVC doctors and staff are friendly, informative, and responsive. They have pulled our senior boy from the brink on three occasions, and have managed on-going complex health issues in a professional and compassionate manner. He is still with us today, leading a comfortable and happy life despite his health challenges, because we found BRVC."Julie V. S. Walnut Creek, CA
"What can I say about this place, nothing negative, that's for sure. Upon moving to San Ramon 9 years ago we were left with the task of finding a vet that would love our animals as much as we did/do and always have there best interest at heart. We stumbled upon BRVC and were lucky enough to have our first appointment with Dr. Pogrel. The compassion and knowledge this man has is off the charts. I never once have felt rushed or foolish for my concerns and crazy questions. ( I'm a bit anal and always need all basis covered!) We had the most difficult decision to make on when we had to put our 13 year old yellow lab down, who was suffering from lymphoma. After an extremely valiant effort on all our parts to "buy" more time, we were at the end of this difficult journey. Dr. P fielded more questions than anyone should have to, with true genuine feelings, not to mention knowledge. He endured many tears and through it all, was there for not only my sweet Cali, but for us. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart on how you handled everything for us with dignity and grace. Dr. P is the absolute best!!!!"Donna S. San Ramon, CA
BRVC is such a great place. They have helped many of my family members dogs. Everything from routine check ups to blood transfusions. The staff is very kind and extremely knowledgable. I would recomened this faciltiy to anyone.David S. Dublin, CA
