Here at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center & Urgent Care we believe passionately in the value of pet insurance for all pet owners. Pet insurance is the gift of protection and peace of mind. In case of an unexpected illness or accident, it is the safety net that allows you to confidently pursue life-saving treatments. Just like lots of love, exercise, a balanced diet, and annual visits to the vet, pet insurance is truly an investment in your pet's health.
We are such vocal advocates of pet insurance for a simple and powerful reason: time and time again we've seen the relief on the faces of the families we serve when they know they can make the best decision for their beloved pet without having to worry about finances. That is the benefit of being insured - the knowledge that you can pursue exceptional care for your best friend because there is a support system in place. We want all our pet owners to feel this secure!
We know that insurance can be confusing so we want to help answer any questions you might have and make the process as easy as possible!
Important questions all pet owners should ask BEFORE signing a policy:
Is the policy and information easy to understand?
What IS covered and what IS NOT covered by the different policies?
Which policy fits your needs the best?
What are the coinsurance and deductible options for the policy?
Will this fit your financial situation if you need to file a claim?
Does the company pay out based on the actual vet bill or by a benefit schedule? (Understand the difference.)
Are there coverage limits per incident, per year, or per lifetime? (If so, understand what they are.)
Are conditions that were diagnosed in one year, considered pre-existing conditions the next year?
Is the company licensed in your state and do they have a good reputation?
Because we know pets get sick and injured (unfortunately, we see it every day), we recommend that you thoroughly research your pet insurance options.
Pet insurance is different from human health insurance in that you pay the veterinary costs up front and then, depending on your coverage, the pet insurance company will reimburse you. Pet insurance works with all licensed veterinarians.
As the number of pet owners with insurance has increased, so has our demand for claim submission. At this time, it is taking 5 weeks for us to submit claims. Insurance companies have made submitting claims quick an easy for policyholders, and provide quicker payouts. We encourage all clients to start doing this, as we will no longer be submitting claims on clients’ behalf as of Monday, April 4th 2022.
Please see the list of insurance companies below and their links for how to submit through their app or website.
