Boarding

When your pets can't stay at home, pick the next best thing: a stay at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center & Urgent Care. Whether you're boarding your pet for one day or for two weeks, we'll make their stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Dog Boarding
With Small, Medium, Large, and Luxury Canine Boarding Suites available, our boarding facility offers separate heated and air-conditioned kennels. Our Luxury Boarding Suites are large enough for several dogs from one family to stay together in the same custom room. All our canine boarders are exercised in outdoor kennels a minimum of four times daily. All outdoor kennels are individual, and dogs are never in direct contact with other boarding dogs. All boarding suites include bowls and bedding.

Cat Boarding
Our feline boarders enjoy a space separate from the dog kennel area, allowing for a stress-free environment. All boarding suites include bowls, bedding, and a litter box.

Boarding FAQ's

Boarding FAQ's

How often will my pet be exercised?
Dogs

  • Dogs are allowed outside at least four times daily in our kennels. They have no direct contact with other dogs being boarded.

  • Dogs are monitored by staff while outdoors.

  • Our kennel yard is fully equipped with shade, sprinklers, and mist to keep dogs cool during the hot summer months.

What should I pack?

  • Pack light! We provide bedding, food, bowls, leashes, and toys. We cannot be responsible for lost toys, bedding, crates, or bowls. For more information about food, please see the next question.

  • You should bring any medication or supplements your pet is taking. Ensure all medications are in the original prescription vials; we cannot administer medications in unlabeled pill containers or pre-packed meals. Medication administration is $6.50 a day for up to 4 medications. NOTE: these terms and rates apply only to pets being dropped off and picked up on the same day. Overnight medical boarding incurrs different charges.

  • All we need for you to provide is the completed Boarding Registration form and proof of vaccines; we'll take care of the rest!

Should I bring my pet's food?

  • If your pet is on a special diet, please bring their own food.

  • Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center provides quality food as part of the boarding service. However, a sudden switch in diet can cause diarrhea. We encourage you to bring your pet's regular food if you are concerned. This may also help keep things familiar and consistent for your pet while they are staying with us.

  • Owners must provide food for exotic pets.

  • We are able to refrigerate and heat food if necessary.

What are your hours?

  • Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center is open seven days a week. We make it easy for you to pick up and drop off, even on the weekends! Boarding pick up and drop off times are as follows:

Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Do I need to make a reservation?

  • Yes! We book up quickly. Reservations are necessary to make sure your pet has space.

Do you offer Day Boarding?

  • We do! Please see our section on Day Boarding under Boarding Rates.

What if my pet has a medical condition?

  • Medical Boarding is special boarding care for pets with medical conditions requiring care beyond the routine services provided by our regular Boarding team. Click Here to download our Medical Boarding Admit Form. Overnight medical boarding is offered at our hospital. However, we do not employ overnight staff. All overnight medically boarded pets will be unattended for approximately eight hours (while the hospital is closed for business).

  • Pets must receive a yearly physical exam by a Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center veterinarian to be eligible for medical boarding services. If you are interested in scheduling a Medical Boarding to stay for your pet, please call us at 925-866-8387 for more information and to make an appointment.

  • Pricing for Medical Boarding starts at $120 per day. The total fee will depend on the level of medical care that your pet needs. This cost will include medical exams by a doctor. All medications you bring for your pet to take must be in their original prescription vials.

What happens if my pet becomes sick while boarding?

  • One of the advantages of boarding your pet at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center is that veterinary attention is readily available if the need arises. We will assess the situation; if a doctor's exam is needed, one will be performed immediately. We will contact you to inform you of your pet's condition and any recommended treatment. An estimate for any proposed services will be provided.

Are the kennels indoors?

  • All pet suites are indoors and are equipped with heating and air conditioning. Dogs are exercised outside in individual kennels, while cats are exercised indoors.
