Fall is the perfect season to spoil your pets with healthy, homemade treats. Not only do these snacks use wholesome ingredients, but they’re also a fun way to bond with your furry companions.
Why Homemade Treats Matter
Commercial treats can contain fillers, artificial flavors, and preservatives. Making treats at home allows you to control ingredients and provide nutrient-rich snacks. Always use veterinary-approved recipes and avoid ingredients like xylitol or chocolate, which are toxic to pets.
Recipe 1: Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Biscuits
A crunchy, fiber-rich treat perfect for autumn.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling)
1/4 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
2 eggs
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs in a bowl.
Gradually add flour until a firm dough forms.
Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
