A Local Rabies Case Is a Reminder to Keep Your Cat’s Vaccines Current

  A recently reported rabies case involving a cat in the East Bay has understandably raised questions and concerns among pet owners throughout our community. As a veterinary team serving families across the Tri-Valley and greater East Bay, we wanted to share this important reminder about keeping your pets protected.
 

  Our veterinarians recommend that all cats remain current on their rabies vaccination, regardless of whether they live indoors or outdoors. While many cats spend their lives safely inside, unexpected situations can happen—such as slipping out through an open door or window. Even cats who only spend time on patios or balconies may have opportunities for unexpected wildlife exposure.
 

  Rabies is a serious disease that affects both animals and people. Keeping your cat’s vaccinations up to date is an important part of protecting your pet, your family, and our community.
