Say hello to Cricket! This sweet, mellow, and totally lovable Cane Corso mix has everyone at the shelter wrapped around her paw. She’s confident, chill, and full of personality—and she’s here to tell you all about herself in her own words:
"I have this dream every night... I’m snuggled up with you on the couch, giving you gentle kisses and happy stubby tail wags as we Netflix and chill together. In my dream, I’m finally home. I’m safe. I’m loved. And best of all... I have YOU!
Hello! I’m Cricket — a cool, calm, collected and confident 4-year-old Cane Corso mix girl. I’m 82 pounds of cutie-patootieness, wrapped up beautifully in a stunning, soft and shiny coat. I have every volunteer here under my spell….and you’re next!
When you first approach me, I might play it cool — maybe even wander off to check in with one of my trusted volunteer friends.
But give me a little of your time and attention, a few tasty treats, and sprinkle in some sweet baby talk… and voilà — you’ve won me over! Before you know it, I’ll walk up to you very gently, follow you around loyally, and happily settle at your feet when you sit like we’ve been best friends forever.
My mostest favoritest thing in the whole wide world is running around the yard with a toy (or two!) and then dramatically flopping over for belly rubs — paws in the air, the toy still happily clutched in my mouth as Isoak up the sunshine. Ahhh… bliss!
Following at a close second is going on sniffaris. I walk well on the leash, but true to my breed’s hunting instincts, when I see a squirrel, my inner Nancy Drew kicks into high gear and I’m ready to lead the search party. Can’t let that Ph.D. in Squirrel Spotting go to waste, eh? But when my volunteer buddies call me back with a cheerful “Come back!” and a “Good job!” (plus, a tasty treat )—I happily refocus my attention on them and continue our walk like the good girl I am.
When it comes to other doggos, I tend to be a bit picky! I seem to have a preference for calm, polite doggos. If you have a dog, please bring them along for a supervised, on-leash meet-and-greet.
I picture myself happiest with a person or family who enjoys long, leisurely walks by my side. After we’ve explored the world together, I’d love nothing more than to unwind at home—lounging on the couch with my favorite toy, just enjoying your company. And oh…one small thing to keep in mind – because of my prey drive, I’d do best in a home without pet birds or small animals.
Please…let’s spend some time together and see if I might just be your furever baby. Being part of your family would truly be a dream come true for me. (My cherry eye surgery is sponsored!)"
Cricket is ready to find her furever family—and with her cherry eye surgery already taken care of, she’s all set to start this next chapter. If long walks, Netflix cuddle sessions, and loyal companionship sound like your vibe, stop by Kennel A-1 at East County Animal Shelter and spend some time with her. We promise you’ll fall in love, just like we did!
