Meet Gladys: The Golden Eyed, Gentle Giant Looking for Her Forever Home

Wellness at Bishop Ranch isn't just about medicine; it's about the joy a perfect companion brings to your life. This month, we are honored to feature a truly majestic soul.  Meet Gladys, a mellow, gentle giant who is looking for a cozy place to land.   Between her glittering red coat and her calm, golden eyes, she has a lot to say about her dream forever home.

We'll let her take it from here:

"Hello! I’m Gladys — a calm, cool and collected Shepherd mix. I’m around 8 years young and weigh about 92 lbs., most of which is my BIG heart, brimming with love, sweetness and affection! Rumor around the shelter is that I was named ‘Gladys’ because everyone who meets me is truly glad and happy to see me and spend time with me.

The first thing you’ll notice about me is my size — but please…don’t let that intimidate you! I’m really just a big little girl with the kindest, gentlest heart. And hey… it just means there’s more of me for you to love and adore…right?

But sadly, I know it’s time to cut back on the treatos (cue the sad violin music ) and step up my exercise game so my golden years stay healthy and happy… and hey, maybe I’ll even rediscover some of those curves! Goals!

You’ll also be completely mesmerized by my beautiful, floofy red coat, which practically glitters like gold in the sunlight. And speaking of glitter - my bright, intelligent, golden eyes are not too far behind in that department.

My favoritest thing in the world is yard time! When a volunteer comes to take me out, I wait patiently and calmly on my kennel bed. No jumping, no excited barking… just a polite, happy girl ready to enjoy some fresh air and good company.

Once I’m done catching up on all the pee-mail in the yard, I’ll slowly — but confidently — wander over to say “Hello.” You’ll see my loving, affectionate side as I happily follow you around the yard, then sit patiently by you, gently tempting you to pet me and share a few cuddles and kisses. And fair warning — belly rubs make me super ticklish… and look even cuter!

I know how to “sit” pretty and “come” to you when asked, and I walk nicely on leash right by your side. I can be a little eager at the start of walks and pull just a bit, but I listen well and respond quickly to guidance.

I enjoy meeting other doggos in the adjacent yards, but if they bark at me, I’m not afraid to give a confident response and then simply move along. If you have a doggo at home, please bring them along for a supervised, on-leash meet-and-greet so we can make sure we’re a good match.

Are you THE ONE for me? My very own person who will love and adore me, go on sniffaris by my side, then curl up with me as we wind down for some cozy Netflix-andchilling? Please…come see me…maybe I’m THE ONE for you too?"
