We are excited to share that Dr. Megan MacRae will now be supporting microbiome testing and treatment for dogs and cats. A pet’s microbiome plays a vital role in digesting food, producing vitamins, training the immune system, and maintaining a healthy gut lining.
When the microbiome becomes unbalanced—known as dysbiosis—pets may experience recurrent diarrhea or vomiting, chronic gastrointestinal disease, skin conditions, inflammation, and other ongoing health concerns. In some cases, microbiome imbalances may contribute to or exacerbate more serious or long-term conditions.
Dr. MacRae can evaluate your dog or cat’s microbiome and develop a personalized treatment plan designed to restore balance. Supporting the microbiome may lead to fewer gastrointestinal flare-ups, improvement in related health issues, and in some cases, a reduced reliance on long-term medications.
At this time, Dr. MacRae is inviting interested pet owners to complete a brief questionnaire to determine whether their pet may be a good candidate for microbiome testing and treatment. Once your questionnaire is received, she will reach out to discuss your pet’s history, whether testing or care may be appropriate, and recommend next steps.
